Subway Art
Subway Art is a form of typography design which allows for text such as sayings, quotes, lyrics, and recipes to be arranged tightly in such a way that it advocates its message and feeling. Different fonts, sizes, and colors are used to develop mood. I created my own piece of Subway Art, utilizing Adobe Illustrator, using a famous quote by Johnny Depp.

I find the quote, "Live as much as you breathe and love as long as you live," to be inspirational in my life in that I relate to the notion of laughing to remain content. To create this project, I first downloaded various Serif, Sans Serif, Script, and Display fonts from Dafont.com. In my three inch by three inch document, I created text boxes for each word of the quote, and occasionally each letter of a word, and changed the fonts to ones which I thought went with the words and the message. I created outlines on each of the text boxes in order to allow them to be more easily sized and moved, and arranged the words tightly on the page. Size was determined based on the importance I believed each word held, allowing some words to "scream," and others to "whisper." To finish, I chose an alternating color scheme of bright, eye-catching colors, on a light yellow background, for the equally demanding message.
