Rainbow Colorization
To create this project, I first selected a large photo, containing at least seven objects stacked or in a row. Using the quick mask tool, each diamond was selected individually by painting over the area, and then selecting the inverse. Each selection was saved to the channels palette as the color which would correspond with it. I then made a layer for each of the colors I would be using in my rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, and pink). Within the correct layer, I loaded the selection I had saved which would go with that specific diamond. After loading the selection, I used the live paint bucket to color my choice as according to the correct order of the rainbow. Doing this made the entire selection the color of choice. To allow the diamond to "bleed through," I tested out different blending modes, as well as opacity changes for these blending modes, to see which would achieve a realistic look. This was repeated for each of the diamonds in the picture, though not all used the same blending mode. To amplify some of the colors, which seemed lackluster, I duplicated layers. For example, the pink, green, yellow, orange, and indigo layers were copied in order to intensify the color of the diamonds. In the end, I was left with a realistically rainbow style set of diamonds.
